Create the digital doc in a drawing app. I use Procreate on my iPad but you could use whatever you are most familiar with. 2. Save file and upload in Cricut app. Prepare it for printing like normal by removing the negative space. 3. Use heat transfer vinyl in Cricut machine to create your cuts. 4. I use silk screen mesh that I got off Amazon for $8. I cut it to the appropriate size. 6. I layer the silk screen and my Cricut cut (shiny side up) between sheets of PTFE Teflon that I also got on Amazon for $7. This protects the Cricut cut from the hot iron. 7. Iron it! Keep good pressure on it until the vinyl adheres to the silk. Then peel away the plastic protective layer. 8. Use the silk screen print on your favorite projects! Here I’m using it with Speedball underglaze. Once I’m done I just rinse out the mesh and let it dry to use it again later. Lay the slip out onto a surface to dry. A plaster mold works the best as the plaster wicks the water out of the slip faster. How exciting right?! I know this is a website about ceramics and all things clay, but I have been working on something a little different. Right before the COVID quarantine back in March I applied to paint a local storm drain mural focused on conservation and keeping our Earth clean.
